Just like the title says, what are you guys running and why? Please include who built it, specs, HP capability, cost and any other info that you feel is important. I’m looking to go to the next level and would like some ideas of what direction to go. I’m looking to buy a complete transmission package from a specialty company like TCI .
It going to go in my SBF 89 hatchback. Thanks.

Do you need a 4 speed? How much does the car weigh?

Anybody that drag races with an auto is gonna tell you to use one of two different transmission, and both are GM pieces.
a Glide or a TH 400.
A C4 is not up to the task, a C6 is a heavy pig that eats power.

It really depends on your use with the car . Drag car with none to minimal useage - power glide or turbo 400

street car that will do some real mileage - Freddy brown aod or a GM 4L80

And yet people use C4s and C6s all the time.

A little heavy with that power for a Glide, probably a TH400 is the best ratio. Not sure TCI is going to to be the best one for that though. In order to get the best ratios and converter, I would talk to a specialist.

For a mostly street, sometimes strip car @ that power level I'd use a 4R70W. Check "Silver Fox Racing". Put a U.S. shift controller on it. You will probably want a triple disc converter.
