I have started the dreaded granada swaps. I had planned on swaping brakes (spindals), engine, transmission and rear axle
I have a 6 cyl. 65 vert. the doner is a 76 monarch. I looked this morning at the axle in the doner and it had a bolt (from rear) cover? thought it would be a 8 or 9.
? is - is this a 8.75? the engine is a 302
anyone know anything about this axle ? (servicability etc.)

you do not want the 8.75, they're not very strong and they have zero aftermarket support. I think they only used them in 75 and 76 in a portion of the granada's/monarchs-kind of an experimental thing I think.

well my days racing are behind me now so I'm not really concerned about longevity it will still be connected to a stock motor did not have plans to change out R/P so I guess it will do.
I know "then why did you ask?"
I have never heard of a 8.75 and wondered if there was anything unique about them.
I had read on the net (pinion shop) that these were usually behind 351c's I will have to check the motor tonight as it may not be origeonal motor (probably a good thing)anyway

I think the only thing they put them behind were some 250's and 302's in granada's/monarch's. If you're happy with the gear ratio and its going behind a stock motor it should be ok. I assume it would bolt in the same as a 8" from the same car. We've got one in a 75 granada parts car, it was a 302/3 spd manual car. We also have a 77 with a 302/C4, but it has an 8". I've never heard of them being in the bigger cars that usually came with 351C's, or 351M's. Good luck.

I have never seen those in any other car or behind anything bigger than the smogger 302.
I will tell you for a fact that it was never behind a U.S. issue Cleveland.
You are better off with the 8" IMO.

The 9.375" was behind some Cleveland stuff in the early 70s, fwiw.
