8.8 rear axle assembly help

I just recieved my frpp fully assembled 8.8 w/ 373's. The question i have is , the one nut on the axle that holds the brake lines on the one side has some sort of leaky breather integrated to it. The new axle assembly has just a regular bolt w/ no breather. Do i need to use the one with the breather? Id rather not. Maybe ford realized they didnt need it. Here is a pic below of the new axle with the reg. bolt and beneath it is a pic of the bolt w/ the breather.

You have to have breather on there. Switch it over to the new axle.

looks like the dust cap broke off of the breather on the new axle..the one your holding is it off the old axle if so i would switch them out...you need a breather on the axle.

yeah, the one im holding is the one from the old axle. So just swap it over then?

Yes put a breather valve. You need a place for the pressure to release.

I'm assuming its cheaper to put a bolt in that hole instead of a breather. Dont use the bolt, use what's on your old assembly.

cant plug the breather hole. rearend needs to breathe otherwise your axle seals will leak.

Oh I know, you misunderstood me. I meant it must be cheaper for the company to sell the rears with bolts, making the consumer just reuse the breather valves... but event hat was just a guess. You should, of course, use the breather valve this I know
