Had the reaend rebuilt with all new parts only to discover that the previous owner had the housing modified for c-clip eliminators. So not only am I out about $300 bucks in labor I have to get a new housing.

I have a 86 coupe what 8.8 rear ends will work and have the exact demensions as stock?

Do any vendors carry just the housing?

Thanks

I'm not quite sure I follow here, but why can't you retain the c-clip eliminators? Any 8.8 rear from Mustang, T-Bird, Cougar, etc will work, but I'm not 100% sure on dimensions. 94-95's were wider, but that may have just been axles.

basically any fox body with 8.8's are the same width.. sn95's are the same in housing width, axles are a few mm's wider though which wont matter in hard facts. basically you can use just about all of them

The C-clips only effect the axles...

Maybe there is a bracket at the end of the axle tubes for the eliminator setup, but what would that do to your housing?

I think you can still use your exisiting parts...

It should not be too hard to find someone to trade housings with.

If you were closer, I would trade or buy it.

You shouldn't be out much, all the gears, diff, bearings, etc, will go to the next housing. You should only lose the pinion seal and crush sleeve.
