8.8 traction lok rebuild question

I put new clutches in my 8.8 Sunday, and the spider gears would not go back in. So I removed the .060 shim from the pass side, and replaced it with an .040 shim and they fit.

Got to thinking, I guess I should have equal shims on each side, right?

Anybody been down this road?

BTW the spring goes back in easily with a press!

yes, you should have equal shims on each side. did you put 6 clutches in or 8?

I put in 6 clutches. There were two old ones with the tabs broken.

I figured I should take it back apart and make it the same on both sides.

I rebuild them with 8 clutches and only 6 steel spacers. Usually end up reusing the stock shim on each side.
