this swap involves changing the suspension brackets from a four bar to a leaf spring. that involves welding on the axle tubes. it can, and has been, done. just be aware of the work involved.

...really hate to put on my Crabby Old Bastard hat again (wait.....no I don't... ) but this is in Letterman's Top 10 of "Most Beat-to-Death Topics on This Forum," including 3 or 4 threads in the last 6 months. A little searching will most likely answer your inquiry.....

Do you think that if we made the "search" button 4x larger and bright pink people would use it?

We could even take a page from the ads I see here on Stangnet and make it look like the button is vibrating.

Yes/no?

One problem with the search is that you can't use words that are less than 4 characters long. For example, he can't use 8.8 or 8".

Honestly? No. Everyone's ego is such that they think they must be the *first!* to think up such a ground-breaking, exciting automotive question, that *no one* has thought of before..... and sometimes that is true.

The smart money says its the 10,000th time its been mentioned :Teh-Win:

Another imposing roadblock is....... searching takes a little work.

Laziness aside, people do themselves a disservice when they do not search - the cast of 'responders' is different every time the question is posted, so answers that were posted the last time (s) may not be there this time around.....perhaps just the answer/insight/perspective that the inquirer was looking for.

So, I am *really* just alerting the poster to the fact that there most likely is *much* more information available at the touch of a button........a public service, really :SNSign: .....this feeling of virtue helps to take the inevitable "yO, wHY u b hATing, dOOd??" replies in stride

the fox 8.8 will fit the 67-68 cars alright, but for the 65-66 cars it would need to be narrowed.

On the 65-66 you need to use a explorer rear, cheaper $300. and you only have to narrow the left side. Also has 31 spline axels. Still need to weld leaf spring mounts.

Hey, Crabby Old Bastard.

Multithreading diffrent topics, including 8.8 swaps, is benificial and keeps stangnet active. It allows new users to interact and become known. It also helps to see diffrent points of view (maybe one guy is dealing with a *detail* that has not been covered). It also keeps the forum current with new threads. I realize posts may not be new ideas, but they are still a combonation of words that have not been read yet. Many people, myself included, look at the first page or two for the theads whose title is in bold, signifying a new post. It would be nice to still have some to look at. Even if the search button were used only half the time, it would steal many of these "new post" threads, and Stangnet would become archives instead of a forum. Plus, I was actually looking foward to seeing what people had to say, even though I have heard it discussed before. It's all good though.

I think what he is referring to is if you post on a original post it will go to the top and the "new" info will be included with the old if its not already there.

Yea, I geuss that would work. I dont know about anybody eles, but I dont like having a 30 page thread, its too messy. Think if every thread were like that.

Anyways....

The 8.8 axle swap has been done several times. It's fairly simple. The thing I would recommend, though, is to convert the housing to use 9" ends. This way you can use regular 9" axles and eliminate the C-clips.
As for telling the original poster to "use the search key," I'm sure he already knows where it is, and you didn't help him one bit. The search function is a good help tool, but it might not have the latest info or ideas on a topic. I don't care how many times a subject is posted about. If it interests me, I'll read and maybe reply. If I'm not interested, I'll skip it.

that's interesting - didn't know about the explorer rear! Thanks for the info.

what's a good price to narrow the rear?
