we were working on my friends 85 today and i noticed he had two charcoal canisters instead of one like mine does (86) Am i seeing things? also, he wants ot ditch them and since they are just a vent for the tank would they do any harm besides making the engine bay smell like gas? we would prob just put a tube leading out the back and have it vent behind the car. Also, does the canister vent using vaccum and would there be a vaccum leak if it wasnt there? i assume its running of ported vaccum if any.

thanks,

Drew

Some people have taken them off and vented the line elsewhere with no problems at all. I thought about doing this once, but really haven't put to much thought back into it. I'm sure your not going to kill anything/anyone by taking it off.

The only thing about removing the canister is you might get that smell in the interior. Run the line somewhere where it can vent without getting the fuel smell in the car or where dirt can get into the system. You don't want to seal your fuel tank, problems will come then.
