Recently I bought my fourth Mustang an 85GT 5speed. I bought as a non runner and the car has sat up for the last 4 years. I know I need to drain and refill the oil and coolant. What should I do next before trying to start the car?

Ok, there may be a fuel filter in the carb where the fuel line is screwed to the carb, blow out the fuel lines too.

flush/replace all fluids-oil,brake, trans, rear, ps, gas, coolant, and all filters-oil, gas, trans, air
replace plugs, rotor, cap, wires, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, radiator hoses, thermostat. belts
remove all spark plugs and squirt a little oil in each cylinder- turn the motor over by hand to make sure no rings are binding and the motor turns over
I would remove the coil and crank the engine over to make sure you have fuel pressure and no gas leaks.
lubricate the throttle cable and TB springs
I would pour about 8 ounces or so of MMO in each side of the top end to free up any sticky lifters, valves, rings.
check the TPS voltage
Don't be surprised if you have gasket such as rear main seal, valve cover, pan ,etc. that leak from dry rot. and that your injectors may be stuck or in need of cleaning.

Thanks I now have good list to go by but first I have a few questions. "I would pour about 8 ounces or so of MMO in each side of the top end to free up any sticky lifters, valves, rings." What is MMO ? General Karthief there is a line that screws into the carb. How do I blow the line out?

I'll try to remember to take pictures and keep you guys updated.

Marvel mystery oil
remove the line at the carb, here, this may help with the carb if it is still stock http://www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/mump-0907-how-to-understand-the-holley-4180/
Notice the different color nut where the fuel line screws on, I think there is a fuel filter in there. Get some repair manual s to help you alone and we will help too.

So I made a little progress on the 85 today. I removed the old battery tray and found a little surface rust and cleaned it up with a wire brush and finished it off with three coats of rust neutralizer. Installed a new battery tray and battery to see what electrical components work. The headlights and taillights were the only components to work. So tomorrow I'll be back at it in the morning before the heat wave comes through. I'll keep y'all posted.
