my 99 cobra with 11" clutch has 85k miles on it and stock clutch. I have the trans out. Everything looks fine, machining marks are even still on the pressure plate and flywheel. I checked the rivet to clutch face depth and got .035. The ford spec calls out .012 minimum. What do new in box clutches have for thickness? I didn't measure overall thickness, only rivet to clutch face depth, since I figure as soon as it gets to the rivet there is no way it will hold at all.

I think a lot of people here don't attempt to do their own clutch job...
I've got a new clutch in my basement, but it's for a 2.3 and far from stock materials, so it's no help to you.
It sounds like your clutch still has plenty of life and could go another 30k+ miles, but do you really want to drop the transmission again in 30k miles? If you replace it now and can get another 85k miles out of the new clutch, then the car will have 170k miles by then, ie you won't have to worry about it for a very long time :D. I'd say just replace it, because you already have everything apart.
