FYI, yes there are "ground effects" or "skirts" between the front wheel well and the bumper.

I hope your buddy changes his mind. A four-eye will get more comments and compliments. IMO, it would be easier to sell the car and get what he really wants than to go through the trouble of converting. To do it right will not be very cost effective, as mentioned above.

Semantics. Come on, I believe we all know what was meant by ground effects.

OK GUYS stop fighting!

I got him to change his mind, I was with the guys of not changing because I like the four eyes (my dad had a 84 GT). He does need a whole new 86 front its dinged and dented and driver's side fender. not a passsenger, my bad. So if any of you can help me find both in good condition it would be a great help.

I'm glad he decided not to change because I'm going to help fix up and mod the stang this winter. Along with my own stang , ya so thanks for you input guys, we wont be able to get started on his for a little while because we are both only 16, and he needs to save up some cash. I've been saving for 2 summers and working 2 jobs so I have some, but I still dont have enough for my engine combo that I'm going to start this summer

So this winter should be fun I get to work on my rear end and rear suspension and mass air converison and rebuilding his engine and fixing the rest of it up

Excellent man! Get your buddy to register over there at foureyedpride. There is a wealth of four eyed specific knowledge over there. Great site. Your friend will be very proud of his car. It's allways nice IMO to have something a little different, a little less common. I think that one reason people choose to do that conversion is just because they aren't used to seeing the four eyes running around. They think of the fox and immediately picture the aero nose. They are fewer and far between and they allways seem to garner attention, especially the ones that have had good restorations. I gaurantee that front end will grow on him over time and he'll be very glad he didn't change it.

why change the look of such a badass looking car . there is no reason . if you want a areo nose , go buy one .

mavrick, yes the 86 is one of the most faverable fox bodys , you get the best of both worlds , efi, 8.8, true duels , and that badass 4eye look . i see at least 4-5 areo noses a day , and i have seen 2 86s other than mine in the last year , id say the the aero noses are a dime a dozen here .

Ha.. Good reply fellow foureye friend.

Keep the 86.. Your friend will be surprised at the attention it will recieve. Everyone has a aero nose car, only the privelaged and those that understand can appreciate a foureye car.

And dont forget that the 86's started the 5.0 revolution.

The last of the foureye and the first to get EFI.

Props to staying 4-eye!

Sweet, staying 4-Eyed is way cool.

I wanted to do the same thing with my 81 back when the aero cars came out... ...now I am stoked that I didn't. While some may argue an 81 front isn't as cool as the later 83-86 brothers, that does not concern me. When was the last time you saw 79-82 stang on the road? Ok same question about any 79-86? Thats why I dig the 4-Eye cars.

I'll take a 4-eye car over an aero car, and I've got both already.

PS - Much to Mavrick's dismay, I too am one of those people who give a **** about four-eye cars.

Hmm you forget all the limited edition stangs from 79-86, like my 79 pacecar for one, at car shows there are a hell of alot more people around my car than even the most badass 87-93 stangs. I feel that people who dog on four eyed stangs are just jealous because our cars were supposed to be mustangs, they were supposed to have the four eyed nose, the areo nose cars were a last minute thing, ya'll are lucky your not driving probes.

How is this not badass?

alright, step down, you guys are taking this 4 eyed pride a little too far, i didnt dog the four eyed stangs, my friend did for a little but then came to his senses.

quit ripping on the 87-93 mustangs, they ARE mustangs, when ford said they were going to phase out the stang for the probe, there was such and uprising. so dont say I'm lucky to be driving my 88 LX. It sounds like your doing what four eye haters do to you, but to the aero style stangs.

but you can have you own opinion, i like the aero style more, but i still like the 4 eyes, im looking for one as another project car when I take the 5.0 in my stang currently out for my new one I'm rebuilding with all new parts. I like them both a mustang is a mustang.

But dont go around bashing each others perference, thats just plain stupid. because you dont know how much our mustangs mean to each other. Like mine for instance was 6,0000 dollars, I a 16 year old borrowed money from my parents and PAID them all back over the summer. working 2 jobs, I love my car to death. so just end the bashing its done. he decided not to convert.

btw you have a badass 79 pace car, never seen it with cobra R's,

this is mine 88 LX 5.0

and tell me how many 88 LX 5.0's have only 47,000 orginal miles on them and still have factory paint.

well i'm not gonna "rip" on you, but there's nothing sicker than a black four eye, with some big meats out back and skinneys up front i would trade my car in a heartbeat for a clean 4eye

I am not doubting they are rare, and I agree with you that no special edition Mustang should be hacked up, it would be a shame. My main reason for posting as I did, is because I can not stand when you people go absolutely crazy when somebody wants to change the look of their car. If the cars were being hacked up, it would be different, but we're talking about changing bumper covers and hoods here.. if you like the aero nose, they are not very hard to find. Aftermarket companies sell them as well, they will always be readily available.

I also really like 85-86 GT's, and would love to own a hatch of that body style.

I dont think anyone was ripping on aero nose car's. More like explaining the good point's of the early car's.
I like all mustang's, even some of the 70's mustang/pinto car's are pretty cool.

Well let's see here...

86 was the first year of our beloved SEFI, and the last year of the foureye. So yes 86's where the first to get SEFI which started the all mighty love affair with the fox mustang...

82 GT's where a turning point in american musclecar's. The return on the GT and the return of performance to Detroit. In 83 the almighty Holley carb returned to the mustang. The first time a mustang had a 4bbl carb in 9 year's and the first mustang to hit a halfway respectable 1/4 mile time in 9 year's.

Not to mention all of the other cool model's. 20th anny car's, SVO's, turbo GT's, Saleen's etc etc...

Maybe your not old enough to remember the bleek and dismal performance of the 70's. The early fox car's brought performance and excitement back to Detroit and the American people.

If thats not starting a new performance revolution I dont know what is.

Yes let me quote this for you, when the 82 mustang GT came back with the 5.0 they said "the boss is back" and they were right, it killed the competition, the 86 mustang has the same fuel injection as the 87-93 the only exception being it has speed density, crappier heads, and a more restrictive upper intake.

And to the guy who told me to step down, you can tell me that when Im actually talking to you or in regards to you and you have proved me wrong, which wont happen. Dont ask for oppitions or ask a question and get mad when someone expresses an oppinion or keeps your thread going. Thanks for the complement though.
