86 GT Questions, about to buy..

Im considering buying one soon here to restore. I have yet to see the car in person, but I have seen pictures.
My questions are, is the electronics and maf the same as 87-88? Is it the same speed density as the 87-88?
What was the problems with the heads, or was it the whole engine? Is there any comments that would be helpful in my decision. They are asking around 1000-1500. Body looks good, says the speed shifts good, and int. is good.

It's a speed density car. The only problem I know of had to be the non-fly cut pistons.

They are speed density cars through 88 I believe. The conversion to MAF is very simple, but costs a couple hundred bucks if I remember correctly. The engine is a 5.0L just like any other. The difference is in the heads. They are restrictive compared to later years which subsequently drops the hp, but they do make decent torque. Oh, and as stated above, the pistons are true flat tops (if you are considering aftermarket heads or a large cam). Sounds like a good deal to me if the car is in decent shape.
