You should get a PAW catalog because its bigger than a New York phone book, and they have hundreds of piston choices with some pretty sweet deals. If you arent going crazy with the comp ratio and you arent going to use a power adder over 8 lbs of boost then think about hyper. pistons if you have to save the money. Forged isnt really needed......if you dont need it. If your just racing and cruising, or you live in all year fair weather, then go carbed, other than that, go fuelie. Always think of your needs before deciding. If you go carbed, keep the CFM below 650 and run an Edelbrock RPM or equivalent. I'd really suggest a Vac. Sec. carb because they run great on the street and regardless of what people say, they haul on the track too.

Sorry Dag, I've always been a little on the irritated and blunt side, but hey, my advice is usually spot on.

A friend of my ran hyper. pistons and he strongly suggests them but i was thinking maybe about going turbo somewhere down the line so im looking for a combo with forged pistons and a compression ratio that you could run a power adder

yes the turbostang is for sale, the block I believe is warped but the details are in a post in the 2.3 section

Not to hijack here but......let me see if I got this straight.

The 86 HO motor is different from the 87-88 speed density motors in that.
It has......

1. Flat top Pistons with No reliefs.
2. Different cam
3. 58MM throttle body vs 60MM
4. Smaller upper intake manifold
5. E6 heads vs E7's

So if I get a set of Trick flow twisted wedge heads and cam, a 87+ upper intake, 65mm Throttle body.....I should see some serious gains (30-50hp) over the stock 200hp the motor is factory rated at.

Or pull a junkyard 87-88 motor with GT40 gear, intake heads, cam.....

Exhaust is already a h pipe setup, no cats and flowmaster 40 series....

Thanks!!!
