How much horsepower can you make with a 87/88 turbocoupe with the stock turbo and how much boost can it handle. I know there are tons of bolt ons, header, down pipe, cams, roller followers, tbody, you name it.

The stock turbo is the smaller IHI. You would be be doing quite well to make 260hp at the crank with it, but only because it is undersized. Most people find little or no gain in running more than 18psi. The turbo just doesn't opperate efficiently at high pressure ratios.

You can make a fairly decent amount of power with the stock turbo, really. The efficiency limit is at about 18 psi. I gotta tell you, I do love the super quick spoolup of the IHI. There's a guy on turboford that got his TC into the 13's with the stock IHI, he's done a good bit of headwork and stuff though.

Thaks I have the chance to get a 87/88 turbocoupe with a 5 speed, its black, nice lookin car, the guy wants to sell it to get a truck. He has been talking to me about it. What about the exhaust how hard is it to ditch the factory setup and go with like a 3inch down pipe splitting into 3inch duals.

So its not hard to run a 3" down pipe and split it into 3" duals? What are some other good mods for these cars? I have heard also the stock meter,is pretty restrictive.I now its not mass air, but what can be done and also when turning up the boost , what about the boost buzzer ?

The boost buzzer can just be unplugged. You can pick up a T3 turbo for 100-150 bux and it can support ~300rwhp...The exhaust is just as easy as any other vehicle...

Why go 3" into 3" duals? Besides the fact that it would cost a fortune to get that run out the back, it's unnecessary. Just do 3" into dual 2 1/2", at least then you can actually get stuff for a half decent price.
