I have a complete and runnig 87 efi 2.3L Mustang. The Ranger is not running, as the motor needs to be rebuilt (Rings no longer seal). The Mustang motor is going into the Ranger. Then I have a turbo motor from a Tbird that will go in the Mustang.

First things First.
Things I am worried about with the Ranger efi swap...
Fuel pump
Fuel Lines

That's about it. I will use the computer from the Mustang, as well as the wire harness.

Is there anything that could cause me major problems that I have not thought of?

I need to get the Ranger running so I can sell it. I only have room in the garage for 1 hobby car. The Mustang will get the turbo conversion when this is done.

I appreciate any advice. I did try a few searches, but nada. Feel free to just post links.

Thanks
jason

If swapping in the ecu - I would hope you are running a 5 speed.

In my mind there is no other trans that belongs in one of my vehicles.

Make sure you use the Ranger b-frame mounts. I learned the hard way they are different and had to yak it back out to swap them on the first Ranger I ever built.
Otheriwse it is all straight forward!
If you use an EFI ranger air box you need to modify the IAC wiring, as instead of being on the t-body it is on the air box on a Ranger.
I am assuming however you are using the Mustang t-body as well.

I figured that all efi sensors would have to be transferred. But at this point I am thinking about just swapping out the long blocks. Then I could leave all the good efi stuff in the Mustang, and leave all the carb junk in the Ranger. Since I don't plan on keeping the Ranger, I may as well spend as little time as possible on it.

I appreciate the help guys.

Are there going to be any differences between the long block of in the Ranger and the long block in the Mustang?

No Differences in the Long block. I would say if you plan on bailing just do the lower end swap and be done with it.

I thought '86 was the first year of fuel injection in the Ranger. Unless that was only the 2.9.

It is hit or miss. I had an 85 4x4 ranger 2.3 that was EFI.
The 2.0 was carbed up untill it was dropped in 88 or 89.
