Hey this is the first post i made, new to this. I have a 1987 Ford Mustang GT, i upgraded to pony's last year, but i just bought a set of 17" * 9 Cobra R's all the way around. my question is what tire size can i go in the front, the car has Eibach 2" lowering springs, so i don't want them to rub. i was told to go with 245/45/17, ppl said they work, ppl said they rub, and don't look good. so i was also told to go with 255/40/17, some say this is to wide, but looks good. what should i do?

with 17x9s, the inside of the rim is going to rub on the front control arm at full lock.
the simlpe fix for this, is to install limiters in the rack...
as for tire size: 235/45/17 will work for the front & 255/40/17 for the rear...
I had this set up on my car with a 2" drop for 5 years with out rubbing
I just switched to 255/40/17 on the front and 265/40/17 on the rear with the same 2" drop... the rear rubs only when i have a passenger....

this what it looks like...

cobra 17 * 9

The wheels are 17x9 with a 5.78" backspace(+20mm offset) . The lug pattern is 4x4.25 (108mm).

i don't no how to do the rack limiters, is it expensive? a big job?

i don't want to get into chaing my front end.

In this picture here, you can actually see where my tire rubs (back) the inner wheel well when going up certain driveway angles and weird turns - normal driving is fine though - it doesn't bother me at all-

hey i ordered the rack limiters from steeda.ca, closest to where i am. so what i do now, how do they go on, is it a big job to install them?
i was thining about going 255/40/17, will these be ok for the front?

i've got 255/40 fronts and 275/40s rear with the eibach pro springs.you'll need the rack limiters and my rears don't rub but i have no quad shocks.also 225/55 fronts and 235/55 rears don't look bad either.they fill the wheel well up better than 245/45s all the way around.

You can get rack limiters from any Ford Dealer. Easy as pie to install, pull your inner rack boots and slip the rack limiter on, slip the boot back on and put a new clamp or zip tie on. Done!

I run 255/45/17 in front and 275/40/17 in the rear on 17x9 R's. I have 0 issues on the front of my car with rubbing. Before I would worry too much about rubbing I would try it and see what it does. The 275's in the rear will rub just a tad on the back inner fender well on one side when the suspension is really compressed but a new set of shocks would greatly help that on my car as well.
