Long story but I wrecked a 93 I had it. Sold it to a co worker who needed a 2.3 for his dad's 88 convertible. He knew about the conversion needed, being completely different electronics. Well a month later he did it. Runs great. Almost everything works. Almost....

Now my reason for bringing this up. The ball joint broke and he wants rid of the car. So in an hour i'm picking up a nice dual plug 88 convertible stang for $175.

Now to it's issues...

1) tach does not work. I have a spare 93 cluster i'm hoping will work.

2) Idles high. If you unplug the IAC it runs idles fine but stumbles a bit.

I have a haynes manual but the 4cyl diagram is on;y for the older motors, not the DP motors.

Anyone have this diagram?

The high idle should be fairly easily fixable. Usually you can crank it down by either just adjusting your idle speed screw or re-adjusting your TPS. You might want to take a look at your TPS just because.

The Tach should be a fairly simple fix. Considering those are the only problems and it's $175, looks like you got yourself a steal.

Here is a link for your TPS adjustment.

Looks like I'm following your lead

Hi, Dave here, I'm the one doing the 93 to 87 conversion.

Does your friend remember what all had to be done in the conversion? I'm considering the idea that someone posted in my thread, using the block from the 93 with the heads from the 87 and the roller cam from the 93. I've got a bad rod in the 87 and the 93 looks like a recent rebuild that I got dirt cheap.

Well I just got the car home. It can't be that hard to do becuase the kid who did the conversion is a complete moron.

I'm haveing issue with idle right now but up inspection I am finding about 5 plugs not hooked up. I'm in search of a scuematic (sp???) for the DP engines.

Basically what he did was rip out the wiring from the 93 and put it all in the 88. The only splicing from what it looks like is the tranny. Not sure why yet. (A4LD)

Your best of doing the whole swap. I'll post pics on Sunday when I get a chance.

PM me and we can talk about it or AIM me at "TheNoachSHO"

In any case any one have the electrical diagrams for 90-93 4cyl. Haynes does not cover them.
