i have an 88 gt with a few preformance parts i took my car out of storage this year and did the head gaskets and put a trick flow track heat intake on it now when driving under normal conditions i get a miss at any rpm and some times it will back fire as i start to accell as this happens it almost sounds like the car shuts of for a split second. when i floor the car it accelerates fine untill around 4500 rpm then its like a rev limiter is going off this happens 95 percent of the time the oth 5% i can hit 5500 no problem but there is still evidence of a small miss or hesitaton in the engine as it goes through 4500-5500 does any one have an idea or had this problem i have tryd new wires plugs ignition control modual cap rotor grounding

pref parts on engine are as follows

trick flow track heat upper/lower
pullys
65mm spacer but no throtle body (my edelbrock one fell apart)
cold air
mac long tube
mac H
flowmaster 2 chamber american thunder cat back
255lph fuel pump
rebuit 302 3000km on it
msd coil ford racing wires
smog eliminated
alumin drive shaft
T5Z tranny
spec stage 1 clutch

Check voltage going into the coil as well.. should be at system volatage while car is running. If good, swap in another coil temporarily at least, to rule that out. Also reve the car and hold it to ensure you're getting proper output from the alternator. 12-14V at 2k RPM is a good rule of thumb but just ensure that voltage does rise above idle.

i already checked that and i pulled the codes today and the only thing that came up was some thing to do with the emissions control wich made sense cause there all missing hammered her after work today and hit 5500 in 1st and second perfectly and pulled hard but once i drove for a while it came right back the altenator does rise above idle but i aleays thought that was because of the pullys
