'88 Cougar Rear End?

have a bent axle shaft in my '89 GT 8.8 axle. found a whole 1988 Mercury Cougar rear end for dirt cheap but i need to know if it will fit in my car. stock 8.8 axle with quad-shock setup. any info appreciated!

Why not just buy the axle shaft. Sounds like a lot of work to fix something easy by swapping the whole rear end

i don't know, we tend to look at it if we can buy the whole assembly with the shafts and everything for the same price as a shaft alone, then why not. no bearings need to be pressed, have spare parts, etc...

The rear itself is the same width and will bolt in, but the axle shafts on the Cougar are longer than the Stang's. It'll add about 3/4 of an inch to each side in total width.
