88 GT Drivers Door wont open

Ok so the outside door handle has broken (go figure), and even so the door will not open with the inside door handle. I removed the inside door panel to gain access to the latch, pushed down on the open rod from the handle and I hear it click but nothing happens. If I push the open rod from the inside handle I hear it click but nothing happens. Any suggestions to get the door open??

I saw the other thread about this but they mention what I have already tried. Thanks for any help.

Its probly the lock cylinder.Go buy a cheap lock knob from autozone or something,one with a knob at the top of it.Screw it into the lock rod and pull up with a pair of pliers and pull the inside door handle at the same time.It should pop open.My car door would open either untill i did that.

make sure the doors are all the way closed. i had it happen a couple of times where the door wasnt closed all the way and it wouldnt let me open it back up til i got it all the way latched. its happened at least 10 times to me
