88' Master Cylinder Question-Fitting To The 82'

well i bought an 88 master cylinder and brake booster from a parts car to replace my 82' units with 100K on em, my stock MC has only 2 outlets, and the hoses are both different size threads, on the 88' unit it has 3 outlets, two on the side like my old one and one on the bottom, can i block off the one on the bottom??? on my old setup the 2 lines go to a block which then brings it to the rear brakes, i think this third line on the 88' is for the rear brakes but im not sure...also do parts stores sell all the fittings i need to make my own short brake lines?(just from the MC to the distribution block below it) Thanks and here's a picture i found of the 88' MC

On my car the two lines go to the prop. valve, and the one on the bottom goes to the driver's side front. One line for the two rear and one for the passenger side front. I don't understand it but thats where they go.

Aryan is correct how it runs.


Two of the brake lines run to the prop valve, while one runs direct to the driver's front wheel.


Unsure if you can block one, but i beleive the thread pitches are different anyway.

Why not use an OEM MC for your year??

my brakes are pretty much rock hard and dont change much when the car is completely off. I have a stock HO motor/cam for now, and i am in the process of putting 11" brakes on, i have the drivers side on but i broke 2 spring compressors and the rented one doesnt fit no matter what, so im stuck. I was going out on a limb to think that the newer 88' MC would be better than my stock 82', would i be right or is my limb going to break?

If it's hard, i beleive it's a booster issue.

You can upgrade to the 87-93 dual diaphram unit found on the V8 Mustangs. It's a little bigger than yours and should help with feel. I'd try that before replacing your MC.

x2 its the booster, id did the swap your talking about to my 82 gt. but i changed both booster and mc at the same time with an 89 set up. i can send you i pic. i remember flaring a line. im not sure why but once i look under the hood im sure it will come back to me, its dark now so ill get the pic in the morning. ray
