88gt (Hatch Issues)

I have an 88gt 5.0 Hatchback and the Hatch itself is stuck....when the key's in position 1, or 2 i press the trunk release button but my hatch won't open.....did anybody ever encounter something like this and how can i resolve this?.......easy? hard?

I don't know how you're numbering the key positions, but the release doesn't work unless the ignition is on.

Can you hear a "click" when you hit the button, like it's trying to release but can't, or do you get nothing?
