89 Aerostar 7.5 Posi on a 65?

Will a 1989 Aerostar's 7.5 posi internals fit in my 1965 7.5? if so, is it a bolt on swap or is there more.

the 1965 does not have a 7.5 unit, it's a 8", so no it won't

Actually the 6 cylinder's were a 7.5", but I can't answer the original question.

I believe the later model carrier is part of the axle that has an inspection plate you remove and uses metric threads. The original axle should have a removable center section and be SAE thread. Basically if you want to make that fit it would be cheaper to upgrade to a posi 8".

I think the 6 cylinder rears were 6 3/4" units. The 7.5" stuff won't work.
