I put a rear housing in that I got on ebay and put new control arms on and now I have wheel hop that was not there before.So I put the factory arms back on and still have hop so I got adjustable uppers set angle at -3 still have hop any ideas?
I wouldn't be thinking quad shocks if he went just from one rear to the other. How do the bushings for the upper control arms look that are in the rear housing? if they're beat I'd suggest getting the solid spherical bushings that go in there as a nice upgrade
Wheel hop is caused by many things in the rear, poor weight transfer, bad shocks or springs, rear axle not aligned with the vehicle meaning shifted to one side or not pointed straight, gearing and tires. For example on my Capri I had the stock 7.5 and it hopped like crazy with the stock slapper bars. I tighted up the spacing on the bar to 1/2" away from the pad and it helped but I still had the hop. Swapped in a 90 8.8 rear end with stock 308's and re-torqued the control arms to stock spec and to have them sitting straight out with out the rear end mounted. The hop didnt happen much after that. The only time i got it was when one wheel was in water and the other was not. Later, 4 years ago, I replaced the rear end and all the control arms with a Factory 5 set and a Turbo T-Bird 373 rear end and as of today i do not have any wheel hop. I do not have quads or any other traction device, although I am sure i could use it. You just need to go through one step at a time, checking everything and re-tightening every thing to spec. Also look at your torque boxes for damage. Good luck.
