Hello all! I recently bought an 89 GT fox, and am still trying not to pee my pants from excitement
It has a few problems, but i'm working on them... One of the m is that the gas gauge does not work. I heard form a local mustang guru that it could possibly be the chip that is behind the speedometer pod. Chances are its the sending unit, or float(if not the same thing)
Anyone had problems with theirs?
Also, what size is my fuel tank? To reiterate, its a 89 gt. It has 3.73. gears, but thats about it-
Also, can anyone give me a rough estimate on gas mileage so that I can guesstimate when I need to fill up? Thanks alot, in advance, for you guys time. Also, I look foward to talking with ya'll in the future!-Adam

When my tank is on E, I usually can get about 11.5-12.5 gallons in there. I would say its a 14 or 15 gallon tank. I vote for the float in the tank being bad. I wouldn't even mess with the cluster...there is no "chip" behind there.

As stated above. I'm with him on the float.

the toughest part about changing the float will be dropping the gas tank. just make sure the tank is empty! also make sure when you do this to replace the seal that goes from the filler to the tank or else anytime you make a hard right, gas will spill out.
