89 GT Restoration Project...

Also, what was your process on the hole welding and smoothing?

It's still a work in progress... We welded a plate over the frame rails to smooth them over, and held a piece of brass behind all of the small holes and welded them up. Holding the brass behind the holes keeps the weld from bubble gumming on the backside of the apron. I have the Right side done and primered, but Im still working on the left side. I should be able to post up some more pics this week.

I guess im due for an update... Its been a while, but I've finally made some progress. Here are some recent pics.

I have a small update, if anyone even cares anymore...

Finally got the motor back in and ALL the wiring done under the hood. The car started right up surprisingly. No issues yet....

It looks great in the engine bay. Im gonna try to get some more progress pics posted of the engine bay, then send it to the shop to get the rest of the outside finished.

I finally have some more update pics. This has been a LOOOOONG process, but should be well worth it in the end. The car is getting all the body work done right now, and should be painted within the next month. Here are some pics of it in process, as well as a new addition to the engine bay...

The engine bay is filthy from all the body work, but looks pretty good cleaned up.

The blower is the new Vortech V3 Si Trim. Its the self contained S trim. Im working on polishing it right now. This thing is making me even more anxious to get the car done.

Here is a pic of my daily driver. It just made 331awhp.

Thanks guys. The STi is probably the best all around car Ive ever owned. The handling is incredible and its pretty quick too. Bone stock it went 13.10, with a downpipe and exhaust it went 12.66, and after the intercooler and tune it went 12.31. Not bad for the stock turbo thats about the size of a roll of quarters...

Anyway, back to the mustang. The body work should be done by Wednesday. Im gonna paint it in sections. The doors, fenders, bumpers, and hatch will all be painted off the car. Then the shell will go through the booth. That way I wont have any tape edges under the hatch, fenders, and door jambs.

I have the five lug conversion ready to go, so you guys need to help me decide on some wheels. Im leaning toward the 18" saleen wheels in chrome, or possibly gunmetal. What do you guys think?

looks great man, I'm in the middle of painting my car too, i don't have the motivation you have right now though lol. Are you looking at getting saleen wheels or saleen sc? I have the saleen sc wheels; either should look killer on your car. If you're going with regular saleens, get gunmetal

Whichever saleen wheel is the chrome 5 spoke.... Not sure which one it is.

Most of my motivation comes from my work. Im a manager at a body shop, so Im not actually doing any of the body work. I just took the car apart and have to put it together. :nice:

lol they're both 5 spoke and come in chrome. I'd post a pic but I'm posting from my iphone. Hah you should squeeze my car in when you finish yours, get your employees to finish the body work for me. Just tell them you got another one
