So what things should I check? If I understand correctly, there are 2 coolant temperature sending units (cts's) on the car. One at the front of the intake, and another somewhere on a heater hose? I have a mulitmeter if that'll need to be used.

Thanks for any help :nice:

One is the ECT(one on the heater hoses) the computer uses this one. The other one(on the lower intake passanger side) is the one for the gauge.

exactly. to further clarify for parts searches, the gauge uses a sender (or sending unit) and the computer uses a sensor.

the sender has one wire attached to it, and the ECT has a couple (to do a quick check at the parts store).

good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll try the CTS.

But if it's not that, is the guage the only other option? And if it's the guage, can that be easily fixed? (I ask because I've heard the stock tach is so much of a pain to fix that it's not worth it so people just get an aftermarket tach)

the stock gauges suck. if you have doubts or even have a perfect stock gauge, i still recommend aftermarket gauges. even a parts store temp gauge will be much much better than the hysteretic stocker.

my two cents. good luck.
