89 LX HATCHBACK 2.3L Tranny Problems ?

I have a 89 2.3L hatchback, and I am having some tranny problems. When the clutch is engaged I hear a metel on metel sound, from the general transmission area. Just recently, I am having more and more problems even getting into first, second, hell any gear. Im thinking its probably just time for a rebuild, because of its age. Any suggestions, any comments ???

That is probably something I should have a transmission repair shop fix, eh ???

Do you think, changing the transmission fluid would help ?
If so what kind is the best

GM Syncromesh is best for T5. You can give it a try but dont expect a miracale

Throw-out bearing,clutch job soon. Not too hard.

Mines kinda the same, always grinds when going into second gear no matter what.

E; yours sounds like a synchro in the tranny. Prolly $3-400 to rebuild or just pick up a used one for$100.

It definitely synchros. My car does that occassionally when I power-shift into 3rd.
