Just got my 89 vert 5.0 I noticed that the fuel vapor line that goes connected to the charcoal canister is connected directly to the intake manifold would this cause problems? If I remove it the idle drops and if I cap it of it idles a bit rough. The car also does not have the canister.

Yeah, that's not so good.

I'll move your thread over to our fox tech subforum.

We have some guys that'll post up a good diagram of the routing of the lines with components.

Good to have you with us.

Plumb It all up and run the codes. If it's bad, you'll get a code 85

You could also just use a 9v battery and some wire and touch the leads. It should click with power and then you can try blowing through it.

Red wire would be power, and it's hot with the key in the on position. The other wire goes to the computer which controls the ground. When it's grounded, the solenoid will click and vapors can pass through. With no power, it's closed
