No, you need the lower intake as well. The port configuration is different.

Stock on top, GT40/Cobra/Explorer on bottom

On mostly stock, 10-15 hp over stock intake. You can definitely port the lower and get it to flow in the area of the top aftermarket intakes. Just search for "TMoss ported lower" and you'll find all the info you need.

just wondering ... on a mostly stock engine .. does de GT40 Intake (Tubular upper) make more power or its just the better look?? and whats to power/rpm range of the GT 40 ..it has pretty small ports and not that much Material to port them ..

stock GT40 intake flows about 205 cfm. Ported, they flow about 250 cfm.
E7 heads flow about 165 cfm.

I forget the numbers on the stock HO intake, but I want to say it was around 140 cfm.

so you need cam and heads to get the best out of it ... if Heads just flow 165cfm ..there will be almost no power gain.. ok..

Seat of the pants I had an explorer intake on an other wise stock engine with exhaust and regular bolt ons and it definitely felt better upstairs. Again air only flows as much as it’s biggest restriction
