Last night I was asked by a friend to help him get his lady out of Louisville, KY. For anyone who is not ignoring the news/television at this time you know that the situation in Louisville right now is heated with the news that was released in the Taylor case. Most of the day was pretty calm from what I seen on the news but as time progressed the situation there did also. In different areas across the city groups began to walk. Each group was met at some point by the police and had some mixed results, 100 arrests and counting.

My friend's lady was not able to drive out of Louisville because she works in the area which the hospitals are and the people gathering and police gathering. Her and two co-workers began walking, because that is all they could do, south on Brook St to meet us. They were still in work uniform (Nurses) so they were not bothered as they walked toward the gathering crowds. From their location four blocks south where we were going to meet them. One of these streets (Broadway) is about 5 lanes across.

As I drove north to meet them, we were stopped by a community. These people, as you drove toward them, "Looked" to be not friendly. Once I drew near, one of them asked me where I was headed and he was trying to give directions to get people around the mess which was forming up ahead. This is the thing that is not seen on the news people. They are talking about how the protesters/police/news are acting and not showing how the community is coming together. I explained that we were waiting to pick up a few nurses who were walking toward us and the man smiled at me. He thanked me for coming up to help friends and not harm their community. I seen this group going from vehicle to vehicle and giving good and safe directions allowing the motorist to get around the mess and to a safe location or a better route for their journey.

When the ladies arrived and we asked if they were waiting for any more. Gunfire erupted one block north of where we were at, then return fire happened, then again more gunfire. I told the ladies that if we were waiting for more people we needed to move to another block and get them quickly. The answer cam back as no so we packed them into the truck and were going to head home. The man who I was talking to asked if we were ok and then got us through an alley to turn around and head back home. I asked him if he needed help or anything, he smiled and said, "Sir, this is my home. I am going to be out here as long as I can helping people. We have others along the outskirts doing the same thing so we can keep as many people safe as possible."

When I got back home to relax, I sent a DM to @RaggedGT because we have been chatting about Louisville and to make sure he was still good. That is when I found out he had to go up into that mess to work. His company will be in the middle of the mess for sure by the nature of their work and I hope their customers treat them as well as the community treated me last night. I have reached out to another member but no reply yet on him.

This morning I found out that the shooting just north of where we were stopped is where two officers ended up shot. This was Day 1. The media will be showing all of the bad that is happening in Louisville and wont be bothered to post the things that I seen because it wont gain clicks or sell papers.

I want this post here to be seen as an accurate account of what I experienced. I is sticking with me the more I think of it. A man who I have never met before came to me in this situation, not to harm, but with all good intentions to help. He heard what I was there for and was genuinely happy that others were there to help also. He was going out of his way to help everyone be safe and avoid unnecessary conflict with hostile protestors and hostile police. I do not know this mans name but I know his face. I know he was out there for more than just his community or that his home was near. He was out there because of goodness in his heart. He did not care that I am white and he is black, he didn't care that my RAM is the sexiest truck in the world, he didn't care that the guy riding with me looks more like a scared girl than a line welder. He just wanted to help. There are many people like this in all of these situations. I wish that they would be seen as the people they are and not for any other reason. I want to go back and help this man out, but I also do not want to get in his way. He had things covered and was delegating to those who were there. I was impressed to see the positive side in this situation.

Thanks for the real news,if we all believe in what the media tells/shows us then all hope would be lost. There are just as many great people as there are bad.In this life we can be either one, so let's be kind to each other and share the real news more often.

The Two shootings so far have been the worst that has happened in the city. There has been some vandalism and trash can fires etc. I’ve been lucky and pretty much unaffected. Here’s to hoping this weekend stays the course.

Couple of buses have gotten some fresh artwork, and a few broken windows-could be a lot worse though
