9 in. Rear end swap

I just received a new Moser 9" Rear end housing for my 67 fastback. Fits on the leaf springs fine. But the axel tube is wider than the old stock 8" rear end. Got some new wider U bolts, but spring shock plate is to narrow. Anyone know were to get a wider bolt hole plates? I know this unit is based off the Torino rear end. Thanks, Bill

I have a 65 coupe that is soon to have a Versailles 9 inch under it. What size bolts did you get? I think it needs to be 3.5 inch. As for the shock plates I was told that you have to elongate the holes. I have read on several webites that many people have done this. Personally, I would rather have one that fits right. So, I too am interested in anyone knows.

Yeah, I considered making the holes longer, but 2 holes on the plate will be open ended. I also have the Shelby traction bars installed. The plate for that is also to small. I will need to open the holes on that, because no one makes a larger plate. I looked at the TCP shock plates, but they will not work with the Shelby traction bar plate.

I am doing an I6 to V8 swap as well. Are the rear spring/shock plates different between I6 and V8?

It looks like my Versailles will need 3.5 inch U bolts.

I also do not know what I am going to do about the traction master bars. The plates do not allow for the wider U bolts. I guess they will have to be gound to elongate the holes.

Does anyone know what is actually different between 65-66 and 67-68 as far as the spring/shock mount? The traction master bars have different mounting plates. The guys at Dallas Mustang have offered to change mine out if this will fix the issue.

What size Ubolts do the MR spring plates at mustang depot accomodate?

How do you actually measure a U bolt? Is it outside to outside, inside to inside, or center to center?

I measured the 2 old U bolts I still have from the Lincoln and they are 3.5 inches center to center.

As for my traction master bars, I don't think the plate is big enough to elongate the holes. The holes need to be at the edge of the plate. Does anyone have any ideas about the traction bar plates?

Does anyone know where I can get a good durable set of U bolts like the OEM style ones with the same type of nut etc? I would prefer to get Ford bolts, but have no idea where to find them. I don't trust the universal cheapo U bolts.

Sorry for hijacking your thread.

Does anyone have a picture of the plates available from Cobra Automotive? What sizes of U bolts do they allow for?
