hey guys i have some questions for yall experts to answer!

whats the difference between a stock rear end and a 9" rear end on a 67 stang?

also, i have a 289 bored .030 with edelbrock performer intake, ford racing dual timing chain, 600cfm 4bbl edelbrock carb, hi-po cam(not sure of which kind it is, it was in the car when i bought it), last time i checked the spark plugs they looked like the engine was burning good. i am soon going to convert to an efi system so should i completely replace my engine or buy gt40 heads??

thanks for stoppin through1!!!!

Your post is making my brains hurt!

1st off... WTF are you talking about with regards to the rear end? A 9" rear was stock for alot of 67's. If you are comparing different axles you'll need to know what you have 1st. Generally the difference is that they are smaller overall. The 9" was the strongest OEM axle.

2nd... EFI and cylinder heads are 2 different things. You do not need to modify or change your cylinder heads when doing an EFI swap. You'd better do some more research before you tackle this EFI swap.

The difference between a small block Stang rear (you've got yourself an 8" here) and a 9" is the size of the center section (also known as a "chunk", "pumpkin", "carrier housing") and differential inside it. Otherwise, unless your car lucked out to be a "K" or "S" code car, and got 31 spline axles (not very likely) there's no difference in the axles themselves. The same 28 spine axles that came in 8" rears, will interchange to a 9" rear, provided the housing's are the same length. Careful there with a head swap on a 289, unless you mill a set of aftermarket heads, you'll loose compression using them on a 289. Most 289's had 54 cc combustion chambers, and most aftermarket heads come with larger 58 to 64 cc chambers for a 302.

I think you owe 70Nitrous somewhat of an appology. Other than his inclusion of "WTF" in his post, it otherwise was pretty straight forward and to the point.--------------------------------------------------------------Now. after reading your post in reply to his, it's obvious that you're the one being an "ass" and you owe everyone an appology. There was no need for what you posted. I'm sorry now that I replied to your question.

Hey, if you want respect from people I recommend that you take the time to type out a question properly. When your question is nearly unreadable, it's hard to respect you.

If you stood in front of me and spoke to me as poorly as you type, I would most likely crack up. I'm not trashing you, just explaining something you don't seem to understand.

It's ok to not know what you're talking about. Just admit it and listen. People here are really nice to others who know nothing. I'm amazed at how tolerant people are. Most of them must have kids.

"Trashed and Humiliated"? And I wasn't even trying! I'll admit my reply was a bit snide, but I think you better re-read it. Everything I said was honest, and not ment as an attack against you. I could sugar-coat it for you next time, but I figure we're all adults here and can handle a little straight-talk.

Take your post from my perspective....
I see a post where someone didn't take the time to do any research on his own. That link I posted took me all of 20 seconds on google to find. Couple that with the fact that you couldn't be bothered to write your post in a legible mannor...and I feal like you are wasting my time. BUT even then I replied giving you the information you were looking for, yet this is the responce I get.

I can tell you are young.. and I'm not so old I don't remember what it's like, so I don't let it bother me. But I will suggest you thicken your skin a little when visiting the internet. There is no such thing as "humiliation" here...and to be honest nobody cares about how dumb you look. Plus it's only a screename, you can always change it (especially with only 59 posts)...is your internet "reputation" really that important?

I was new here once and ask some real dumb questions but now I have gotten to the point I can help others. With a little time I am sure you will be here to, but if you thought 70_Nitrous_Eater was harsh you might wont to lay low there where and are currently people here that will leave you broken sticky and confused. Just remember that your are asking strangers to help you out of the kindness of there spirit so it is polite to make sure that the question is ask in a coherent way. There are no stupid questions just ones that are ask poorly. Consider this a learning experience and move on we are adults here and I am sure 70_Nitrous_Eater will not hold a grudge and will help you in the future.
