91 5.0 Front Wheel bearings, need a resource

Ive looked on the internet and cant really find a distributor for new front wheel bearings for my 91 5.0, I would perfer something made by ford, if anyone can reccomend a better bearing please let me know.

Oh also , I havent taking the wheel bearing spindle of bearing apart yet, is it a one piece cartridge or seperate bearings you have to press into a race.

Do they not have parts stores where you are from? Thats like a common nickel and dime part every store should carry. Also its two bearings for each side of the car. They are mounted on the disc brake and ride on the spindle. You dont need any press, they just slide right in. You also need two seals and they go on the back side of the disc brake, but you'll see all of that when you take it apart.

They are race bearings, whats wrong with parts store replacements. They wouldn't sell them if they didn't meet or exceed factory OEM standards....

but is there anyone that sells bearings that can handle more abuse than the OEM parts, Im guessing only if I want to upgrade to the 5 lug spindle,

if i'm not mistaken when i swapped my 4cyl spindles for the 5.0 spindles they had original ford plastic wheel bearings.the new bearings have metal cages and i'm sure are better than oem ford plastic cages.

Just because its OEM doesnt mean its better. There is no need to replace everything on your car with Ford. And the joe shmo bearings you get at the parts store will handle any abuse you can throw at it. I bet there isnt a single person on this site with special high performance bearings because I dont even think they make them, and if you are talking about the 94+ spindles they are a totally different design and although better for mounting newer rims and easier to change brakes, they are no better when it comes to high performance demands. People do the 94+ spindle swap so they can run upgraded brakes and newer non-center capped rims, not because they can handle more abuse. There is no clear advantage to going with Ford dealer parts over parts store stuff except you'll pay more at the dealer. Not saying this is you, but I despise people who insist on using the dealer. Its understandable if your car has a warranty, or if your a concourse show enthusiast. Otherwise your paying out your ass for service and parts that are no better than any reputable service station. My dad does that and he wont listen to me. He insists on going to the dealer and they charge him ridiculous rates. He even gets his oil changed there and its like $60. Must be nice to afford that. The dealer wanted to charge me $250 for an alternator that I bought at Kragens for $35. To make things worse, even if they were reasonably priced, they dont even carry half the parts we need since our Fox body's or so old. Once, as a last resort I took my car to them because I was having electrical problems nobody could figure out. The first dealer I went to turned me away because they didnt have anyone who could work on a carbureted car because it had no computer to diagnose. The second place I went to made the car worse. So I took it back, same thing. I finally went to a specialist who fixed it in 1 hour and the dealer refunded me my money. If your not satisfied with your parts store bearings, Ill pay for them.

Timken makes an awesome replacement bearing and so does L & S Bearings.

We have a company here in town that only sells Timken bearings. O'Rielly's, Autozone and good ol' Al's Auto Parts sells Timken Brgs. Most likely the replacements from Ford are Timkens. Can you tell, I like Timkens..

also, Ford farms out many parts. so cuz it says ford does not mean it was not made by someone else (like a company that makes the bearings you get at the parts store).

Your right about the Timken because i just redid my brakes and thats the brand they gave me at Kragens. And like he said about the contracting. Thats why the 03 Cobra has Manley rods, and a tremec transmission and countless other brand names. Just how Holley and Carter use to make all the carbs for all the factory muscle cars back in the day.

slap some timken bearings on it and get it back on the road.

5 lug spindle or 5 lug rotor? if you go 5 lug spindle,youll have to get rid of the bearings anyway for the hub assembly. timkens are more than enough. you plannin on doin some"wheels up"launches?
