91 air bag light blinks 5 times then pause? help?

ok i havent drove my car in about 4 days, i also havent done anything to it lately. i drove it today and when i started it up the air bag light was blinking. i counted 5 blinks then a pause then 5 blinks pause....keeps doing it. anyone have a clue what it's telling me?

and it's not going to decide just to go off while i'm driving is it?

how do i know which code i have? there's a lot there to decipher.

5 blinks, pause, and repeat = code 5:

Code 5: Air Bag Circuit or Crash Sensor Circuit- Shorted to Ground

first - do you feel comfortable disarming and removing the airbag??

if so, disconnect the battery gound cable. remove airbag. attach jumper wire on airbag terminals on clockspring(NOT on the airbag) the jumper goes from pin1(GY/O) to pin3 (PK).

reconnect battery ground and check for codes. do you get code 5??


ALWAYS hold the airbag pointing away from you. just incase it deploys.
