Even if you were racing a stock '97 Z28 your mods wouldn't be enough to compensate for the 275 hp he'd be pulling. Unless you're a better shifter by a degree of magnitude than he is, there's not much hope.

wow lt1 camaros must be damn fast where you guys come from. 15.00 isnt gonna wreak too much havok on mustangs last I checked. (15.00 is the average for 6 speed lt1's around here) kind of a joke actually. Go whoop his ass! the 50 extra horsepower isnt going to do squat when the car is the size of a small yacht.

I am quite sure you'll win. I have a vid (not digital sorry) of me in my 88 auto coupe at SIR with minimal mods beating a 96 LT1 camaro 6 speed by a full second with a passenger in the car holding the camera. They suck dont fear them. The LS1's on the other hand.... WOW I like them

Race him and find out. I think you will lose, sorry. The 97 I believe actually has 285 hp compared to the previous lt's. My ex-girlfriend had one, and I used to beat on it all the time. I actually had a 91 5.0 lx hatch at the time. The Z felt faster, if that means anything. On the bright side you do not need that many mods to be faster. Go race him for fun to see where you stand.

my mom had a 96 auto corvette with a lt1 it was fast as hell too, but now she's moved on to bigger and better things, like an 02 canary yellow vette with the ls1. big pimpin, i drove that thing one night with a friend and it is the ****nit. got it to 75 in a very small neighborhood street with nobody around. anyway you probably will have to drive perfectly to beat him.

If the guy has a big ego, I wouldn't race him then. Almost everyone on here says that you would loose. If he wins it will just fuel his stupid ego some more.

ditto.

an f-body lt1 is a 15 sec car?????

so you're sayin it's around the same as a 96-97 gt? no way man..

the z28 mentioned in this thread will run high 13's easy.

totally stock they go 14.0-14.2.....throw a couple of minor mods on em and they run 13.5's as mentioned above.

even the lt1 autos run low 14's.

I ran an LT1 Camaro in my 93 coupe, and spanked his ass...but his was a 94, not a 97, and I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

Wow sounds like a lot of bad drivers out there... the Mustang will lose. The Fbodys make great power and great torque, and were low 14s easily. Figure his few mods and he is comfortably in the 13s. If you dont have gears or tires, your lucky to break into the 13s (I mean very lucky) so he has a good .2-.6 on you there. I hate to say it, but the LT1s are fast cars, and take little to be very fast!
