91 gt guage cover removal

how do i take off the plastic lens covering the guages? Somehow a bunch of dustballs have gotten behind there and it is driving me nuts looking at them.

i just want to take the cover off so i can blow them out of there with a can of compressed air and clean the back of the lens.

if you mean the actual gauges (speedo, etc) vs the "GT" cluster of 4 idiot lights....... you dont actually have to pull the cluster. take all the plastic dash trim off (in front of the steering wheel) and unscrew the plastic cover. afterwards, you might want to use an O-ring or something to seal around the odometer push button - i think that is where dirt gets in.

good luck.

Just did mine. Take the plastic guard around the steering wheel off. Then the plastic dash trim under the steering wheel, its held on by 3 bolts, 8mm I believe. Then the steel plate behind that (2 more 8mm bolts). After that you need to remove the light switches from the dash bezel, Remove the bezel which is held on by 3 torx head screws 2 at the top by the windshield and one in the lower right corner, its hard to see. Remove the bezel then the plastic lens is held on by 6 smaller torx head screws. Once you take that off, you can remove the warning light cover which is held on by 4 more torx head screws and you should be able to clean everything out. Took me about an hour to take apart and put back together. Good luck
