i have 91 mustang gt and im thinking about puttng a backhalf kit into it was wondering how much of a pain in the ass its goin to be i already have a decent suspension under the car but still wont hook so was goin to go backhalf or mini tub if anybody has done this would be great for some info

I mini tubbed my first mustang back in the day. It was an 88 coupe. Added 4 inches inward. Pretty time consuming work. We did most of the work ourselves which saved a lot of money. If I had a shop do all the work, I would not be able to afford it and that was 13 years ago. I know of a lot of VERY fast cars that are running 8's without being back-halved, or mini tubbed.

you cant fit a 275/60/15, seen guys do 325/50's, but those pushing it, and are def gonna rub.

theres no reason now-a-days to backhalf a car(with guys running 8's on 275's, and the record is in the 7's on a 275/60 MT also). The bigger tires is just gonna slow you down, and its gonna drian your wallet... Pro-Street is dead.

Just get adjustable uppers and lowers, an anti-roll bar, and have the car scaled and setup by a good chassis shop

I agree with 90lxcoupe. Pro-street is in the past. I believe the 10.5 outlaw cars are mini tubbed to a degree, but those guys are making 2000+ hp. I also think it's a waste of money unless you do it yourself.

I agree with these guys, no point in backhalving a mustang.
Just a waste of time and money.

You may want to consult a chasis guy that knows what he's doing to setup the suspension on the car.
Cars now go in the 6's on drag radials with no wheelie bars.
I know a good chasis guy by Toms River, pm me if you want the location.

Absolutely do it. Remember classes you’ll be put into because of the tires.. I had mine done by a pro. Best money that I spent. You’ll need a 8-10 pt roll bar/cage also. I installed swing out side bars on mine. Daily driver pro street.
