91 octane?

I should be getting my 06 GT sometime between Nov and Jan. So any information will be much appreciated.

I know the car takes 87 but do any of you put 91 in there and actually feel the diffrence. Or is it bad for the car to put higher then recomended.

Won't hurt your car a bit. Don't believe those that say it will "Burn holes in your pistons" or any other such foolishness. With the new computers for 05/06, you might get a few more horses. If you don't mind the expense, go for it.

Well i dont care about the cost of it, i have to put 91 in the damn benz that i drive now. my dad drove it for a day and filled it up with 87. DAMN, there where noises and a huge loss in power.

If anyone is intrested in a 1992 300CE coupe with 103,000 miles on it let me know cuz in want to buy 5.0.

don't do it...

unless you are putting a custom tune on your GT - I wouldn't recommended higher than 87. Never saw if the guy responded, but on another forum a guy was putting 93 (i think.. east coast) in his and the best mileage he could get was like 12-14 mpg. He was stock so I told him to try 87 and let us know if that fixed the bad mpg. I got 24-26 on a round trip from CA to AZ last weekend.
I have to put 91 in my Nissan Maxima. Their VQ engine just loves that 91, but it's tuned for it, like your benz. Stang is tuned for 87 so put in 87.

This thing has a sensitive throttle body (fly by wire system) - so I recommend keeping it as happy as you can. I jumped on mine real good one time and spaz'd the computer... it lit up the "wrench" dash light and through it into "limp home" mode. Had to pull over, shut her down, and turn it back over... was fine after that.
And going from my Maxima... which was no slow poke, anyone needing more power than this thing has stock.... well somethings wrong with that person. Two words... Scary fast.

Unless the engine's built to use higher octane gas, or the computer has the ability to advance the timing to take advantage of the ocatne increase, using higher octane gas does what RisingForce said, burns a hole in your pocket. The V6 that came in my 89 Ranger got better fuel mileage with 89-93 octane than with 87, actually it was the same with 89 as with 93, so in effect the 89 was the best value, it got 2-4 mpg more than with 87, so the cost per mile was less with 89. My 95 E150's 351? Makes no difference, other than the higher Techron content of the higher grades if I buy Chevron gas that cleans the innards up.

Actually you're mistaken. The '05's are tuned for premium fuel from the factory and use a series of knock sensor to pull timing for 87 fuel. So if you run super it'll like it just fine.

Where did you here that?

On a nother note, is the timing for these things done by computer or can you still just play with the distributor and a timeing light.

There is a squirrel with a small oscillosope that adjusts the timing

Dang.... can you ever just answer a question? LOL...

The timing is controlled by computer. Only way to adjust timing is with a tuner. You do not have a distributor in the V-8 it is a straight shot plug on coil.

Factory specification is 87 octane. Limited learn capabilities are inherint in the alogrithm tables of the EEC-V; however, you can encounter a air/fuel ratio issue if the TDC/BDC timing points are not adjusted for firing accordingly. Nothing worse than early or late detonation.

I did answer it. I forgot to add that the 6 cyls only have a hamster with a multimeter
