Guys, has anyone got any experience installing the door glass in these cars ? I purchased the new retainer and rivet kit from LMR to do the install. However, the kit comes with a push style rivet, not what the OEM used. I don't know if I'm not doing something right, but they don't hold the glass tight and so glass rocks back and forth with a change of direction. OEM appears to use a normal rivet that would require a rivet gun. I posted an image of the LMR kit, and a picture of the bracket with the oem rivet still installed to see the difference. I have some door lock actuator rivets that are the right size, but they're not quite long enough. Any ideas ? I'm SO tired of this holding me up, I'm ready to put a bow on this interior.

Those plastic rivet imposters gave me a fit on my windows too, I have some extras in a box someplace, The real ones. I know foxresto sells them and I would think that LMR has them too, you need a big ass rivet gun though. I have access to a large repair shop so they have all those neat tools I can't afford!

UPDATE . . . My brother in law provided me with a couple of real rivets that were long enough to do the job. When the rivet breaks, it sounds like a shotgun going off. If you ever need a large rivet gun Harbor Freight has them for a good price. On the subject of the rivets, I bought two sets one from LMR and one from American Muscle, both were in foxresto bags. So I don't know why they don't sell the original style rivet, unless they figure most people don't own a rivet gun that big ?
