Exhaust 92 Gt Header Size???

Have a stock 92 GT motor, planning on doing engine work within the year, heads,cam,intake,injectors,etc, keeping the stock block and working up pretty much, wanted to know what would perform better, 1 5/8 or 1 3/4?? im going with the longtubes, just wanted to get an opinion on the size, and as far as the rest of the exhaust, a 2.5 inch or a 3 inch? anything will help, thanks!

I would go 1 5/8 LT with 2 1/2 collector and pipes. Anything bigger and you'll lose low end torque IMO.

thanks mike i appreciate it man, any idea what type of power you need to be pushing to be able to use the 1 3/8 headers and the bigger exhaust?

I run 1 7/8" headers and 3" exhaust on my 369, and probably lost some torque down low in the process (tuner said so). If I did it over, I'd go 1 3/4" headers and 3" exhaust. I've heard numbers ranging from 5-600 hp for needing 3" exhaust. For a 306, unless it's really radical, 1 5/8" headers are probably best. For a stroker, I'd start thinking about the 1 3/4" headers.
