I just looked at this 93 LX hatch in my hometown last night. Its a white 93 with 3.73's, aluminum DS, hurst short throw, flowmaster AT catback, mm lowering springs, and BBK caster camber plates. Other than that its bone stock. 87k original miles, decent paint (although I plan to paint it as soon as I buy it, if I do). Theres a catch though. Its an "R" title. The kid bought it from Bill Foxes Auto Sales in Dover, PA. He specializes in wrecked mustangs, buys them, fixes and sells. The car looks like it was fixed right. Just driver side damage (quarter, fender, and door). Didn't touch the rockers or suspension. The lady who owned it prev. put it down the side of a gaurdrail. There is alittle bit of rust startin at the very bottom of the doors and the hatch. It runs really good, doesn't smoke, or leak. I offered the kid $4000 and he said he'd take that. I'm just having mixed thoughts because its "R" title. Ohh, and the interior is just about perfect, no rips, tears, or even wear hardly in the seats. Everything works, and nothing is broken. The guy has had the car since 35k miles. What you guys think?!

Thanks!

sounds like your sold on the car, I personally would never buy a car with an R title way to hard to sell, thats probably why the guys jumped on your 4k, with how many fox bodies out there i dont see why you would look at one with a blemished title.

And with the way the economy is there are plenty of deals out there, if you have cash in hand people will take it, i have baugt cars for for 2 or 3k less than people are asking because i had the cash in hand and showed it to them. a normal every day jamoke cant pass up cash.

I would tell the guy that 4k would be what you would pay if the title was perfect but 2500 is what the car is worth

i wouldnt do it for a few reasons.

1. you say there is rust starting, thats a red flag for me

2. Salvage title.

3. If it was built by someone that specializes in fixing wrecked mustangs then i would be willing to bet that they didnt take thier time on fixing it. The dealer is looking to make money, so they probly cut corners to save a few bucks and you know they didnt take thier time on it. Just cause it "looks right" dosent mean it is.

4. If you take your time now and find a mint fox for the right price you will save ALOT ALOT of money in the future.

I agree. Looks like he flips them for profit so he's more concerned with his margin than his craftsmanship.

It's one thing to buy the car damaged and fix it yourself and get the R title, and other to have a guy fix wreckers and sell them when done.

No way am I sold on the car. Thats why I asked you guys what you thought. I've been looking for a good clean stang for about 2 months now, and rarely find any in my price range. I went to look at this car not knowing it was an R title, but when I got there he told me. I've got my eyes on a few others cars, and after some thinking and reading your posts, I'm definately pushed away from this one. I will keep you guys posted. Thanks!

just be patient, you don't want to spend 4 g's on a stang with rust. I had bought my 2nd stang with 79k miles and some bolt ons and gears for 3500 cash when the guy was asking 4500. This was about 4 years ago in massachusetts and the car didn't have any rust. it took me about 3 months to find this one after looking at 5 or 6 others.
