What would cause a random sputtering, on the freeway? It just started happening on my way to work this morning. Actually it is more like the car cut off for a sec (like it ran out of gas, but this cannot be because I just fueled up prior to leaving). All gauges read normal. Anything I can start looking at? I know how to pull codes on a fox with the paper clip. Can you do the same on 94 cobras?

If it helps the car is bone stock, besides JBA headers, 65mm TB, CAI.

Let me know if you need more info to help diagnose or prescribe anything.

Thanks :SNSign:

Yep. Same trick on our cars.

Also, give the MAF a good cleaning. Plenty of threads about it here and on the corral. If u dont get codes and the MAF cleaning dont work, come back and let us know.

I could not find a link here on this issue. Do you know of one off hand. I will try cleaning the MAF. Also is there a trick to pulling the codes like on the fox bodies with a CEL? Or do I have to buy a scanner for it?

You can pull codes the same way with the paper clip and watch the cel.Im having the same problem right now as well. But the sputtering goes away if i give it a little gas, and I dont seem to have any power loss if i get on it. And i tried pulling codes too and came up with nothing.

could also be a bad pip inside the dizzy. try cleaning the maf first and the IAC. then reset the puter so it starts fresh after the cleaning.

My friend had this happen to his Cobra. BAD gas! The dealership out 87 octane in it. It acted JUST like yours. Maybe the station you are going to is putting 87 in the 91 or 93?

When my distributor was on its way out my car would shut off while driving but immediately go back on by itself.if it shut off while stopped I would have to turn it back on myself. Very weird but that was my problem.
