I'm pretty much at my wit's end and I figured maybe someone else has experienced this.
I have an old SN95 that will crank but not start roughly one third of the time unless I have another running car jumpered to it. I've went through the crank no start checklist and am unable to locate the problem as I cannot reliably replicate any faults. After starting and running for a minute or two, I can kill it and start it on its own unless I let it sit for a while, like overnight. Once started, it also runs perfectly fine. Here are things I think are relevant:
It's not an issue with fuel, as I'm getting constant pressure at the rails and pump priming.
I have replaced every component of the ignition system except the distributor itself as routiene maitenence in the last few months.
It is not throwing any codes at all. It passes koeo and running tests.
The starter has recently been replaced.
I pulled the ignition switch and it is fine.
The only thing I've found that's even vaguely weird is that when running I backprobe the wires at the coil and read just under 9 volts, not 12. I don't know if that's normal or not. Maybe it's just old and needs a rebuild.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
