I went to the local ricer hangout last weekend because I was bored and I wanted to make a few dollars off the hondas cuz I was about out of gas, but there was an RX-7, the last bodystyle of them out there with a turbo on it. The ricers said it was an 11 second car, I really dont believe them, but I wasnt about to race him and find out it was then go home with my tail between my legs. I dont know if anyone on here knows about RX-7s, but is 11 seconds an accurate number for a turboed one

I dont think a single turbo rx7 can go 11s without lasting more than a day. Race him.

Depends if the motor has been ported and the turbo has been replaced with a bigger one. Rotary motors are pretty neat and can be built to run 11's. The port work is $$$ but it's very possible. In my area my buddy with a 98 4.6 with 3.73's, o/r h pipe, and I think he had his u/d pulleys and this black RXS turbo literally left him standing there like his car wasn't moving at all he was amazed. It’s said to be a low 12 sec to high 11 sec car.

No but they can do low 13's, high 12's all day, I wouldn't bet anything.

My step brother had an RX-7, like the one on fast and furious, with a turbo, and I raced him in my 90 GT with only full mac exhaust, pullies and 3.73 gears. He was not the best driver, but I pulled about a car on him out of the hole, and about another car between 2 and 3 gear, and he started pulling me back in 4th gear, but I was not enough to catch me by the end of the quarter. It was a fast little car, but not fast enough. I think my Gt was running 14.0 at the time on street tires. I say go and give that RX-7 a good run.

Ive raced one before, I pulles about 2 cars off the line, but he catches up in upper rpms and beat me by 1/2 cars. My friend with an 03 GT beat him by about 1 1/2 cars.

chances are if its at a car meet, and its an rx-7, its probably not 100% stock, i do know once they are modded they are fast as hell, we have some roaming around here that are very quick

i have seen RX-7's run mid-high 11's numerous times at the track. it really depends on the work he has done to it (turbo upgrade, boost level, port work, etc..)

Let's see my close friend runs 113mph traps with stock twin turbos, I have another friend that has trapped 120+mph on stock twin turbos NO PORT WORK DONE. He threw on a single set up, T04S and pushed it a few MPH higher but ET stayed relativley the same.

Running 11's really isn't that hard to do, just a bit on the expensive side, since most parts for the Rx7 cost a few bucks to get.

The ignorance is high in this thread.

... I have to add that there is a 50/50 chance that the RX-7 isn't running in perfect condition, this is your only hope, lol.

If he's modded then he might have the mph to run 11s, but not the time. The highly modded RX7s seem to be stuck int he 12s...just like the supras but at ridiculous mph (120++)

Even if he's a stock, a 5.0 with bolt-ons will have a hard time beating him on the highway so stay away from that race completely. Race him from light to light though, you'll slaughter him.

If my buddy could drive, his near stock RX-7 would be in the 11s. It's a fast mofo.... just screws with it too much and doesn't know what he's doing.

Beware on the highway as T 5.0 N'works said. He can tear up some of the meanest cars in our club, but at the track, he must get nervous.... cause his times suck.

He speaks the truth! These cars are some serious top end machines, and with slicks .... 1.5 60' all day.

I raced a civic that had a turbo and we raced from first gear roll and i was out about a car intil the end of 3rd gear and he started pulling on me, well we go back and hang out some more and he says he is only running 6 pounds of boost, then i say yea right and i've got a 25 shot of nitrous. Well come to find out the guy is running between 16-20 pounds on some built japanese motor, that made me feel a lot better.
