94 rearend question

i have a 94 gt, person i bought it from says it had a 373 rear end put in it
the question is
when i pres on the gas and let the rpms start to build then quickly let off. you can hear a pop coming from the rear end. i need to mess around some more to see if it does this at any other times, so far that's the only time i can hear it. any ideas?

Not sure if that's an issue with the rear end. I get that sometimes, but I know that's back pressure building in my Bassani exhaust. You could also be running a bit rich and unburnt fuel is igniting in the exhaust.

If the issue isn't exhaust related, the next thing to check would be the rear suspension. However, you should hear the popping noise during turns and other times beyond letting off of the gas pedal. Like you said, experiment with it and see if you can reproduce the sound some other way.

Its for sure coming form some where in the back half of the car, its not pre-detanation or the popping form exhaust. this is one loud solid pop, sounds like maybe a bushing or the clutch cable possibly. i wil mess around with it some more, but it sounds like someone is taking a bat and smacking the under side of the car.
