I found a 94 V6 Stang and I wanted to remove the spindles and axles if they are still there. What toold will i need to do this. I have replaced spindles before on my 82 Capri but I did this at home with an impact. I have not done this with hand tools sI want to make sure I have the right size sockets and wrenches.

Thanks

I would bring a rachet and socket setup with ya. and a BFG to knock out the tie rod and ball joint from the spindle. if the springs are still in then you will need a jack to keep it from shooting out and remove the spring. you'll need some nice sized sockets and possibly a closed ended wrench for the strut bolts and for the ball joint castle nut. should be the same or close as the fox.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I forget what size wrench unbolts the castle nut. I think it's 7/8" but don't quote me.

Loosen the caste nut up to leave about 3-4 threads holding it on. Then with the sprng putting full tension on the LCA, whack the side of the ball joint with a BFH. Some penetrating lube here helps.

Hopefully the spring pops the BJ loose. Now you can put a tire or jack under the LCA and remove the spindle.

Get a tie rod separator as well.

I work at a yard and I work on stangs all the time. Depending on condition of the car, I would prefer NOT to do this in the yard and on the ground.

If you have an electric impact....bring it. It will make your life so much easier. We have 3 or 4 around here and we get crap off faster than ever.
