Progress Thread 95 2-Top Cobra Build Thread- Never ending

Two years later, finally got back out to the track on quest of 14s. My car has a pretty heavy race weight with the soft and hard top on so wasn’t expecting too much. My goal was a 14.8 @95. I know the car has more in it but it’s my daily and I didn’t want to assault my clutch. I launched at 3250 and just slipped the clutch a little. First run after driving to the track was a 15.0@94. Let her cool down a little bit and went back at it. The second time slip was against our ultra blue fox but we let my sister race it for her first time ever. She basically did a 1320’ burnout... first race was against my dad in the fox. Finally got the time I’m after. Maybe soon I’ll go back out and shoot for 14.50s but I’m content with knowing she is capable of doing so without doing it if that makes sense. I truly don’t want to beat on her too much

I know it has been a while since I’ve updated this thread. In all honesty I’ve just been driving the car, haven’t add any maintenance or mods for the past year and have been focused on building my CTS-V. Got that car exactly where I wanted so now I have turned my focus back to getting my Cobra where I want it. I’m taking a gamble on some cheaper bucket seats so I can have more bolstering compared to stock seats. Just got them in today and have to modify the stock manual rail by drilling new holes to bolt up to the seat. Also have an Apple CarPlay touchscreen head unit on the way that I will be wiring up with a backup camera as well. And finally I’m going to switch from my cord B springs over to BC coilovers along with the Steeda bumpsteer kit. Plenty of pics and progress to come! Attached are pics of my dads and my cobra the other night and the seats purchased 3250CB71-DF55-4D0E-A63B-1FCDAD40B960.jpeg 38CA27F4-6068-40F1-9844-8FD2AD325B0C.jpeg 2FED7753-E023-45FA-8033-68C471BFD05E.jpeg 92A3019D-4518-4041-BDA7-A5B7F8133E2C.jpeg

Color is a little bit off but I think I’ll be able to live with it. Stock seats are more plush but new seats are very supportive and comfortable.

BC coilovers have arrived! Along with the Steeda Bumpsteer kit, wheel bearings and spindle nuts which will all be replaced at the same time. Will be selling my current lowered setup if anybody would be interested. Ford B springs and Tokico adjustable shocks up front and KYB GR2 out back. 5k miles on setup. No complaints with this setup, just wanted to go a little bit lower and loved the way BCs rode on my Cadillac. Got my apple CarPlay unit floating touchscreen unit wired up and installed. Still need to hookup backup camera later this week. Sounds much better and now I can have navigation without putting my phone on the gauge cluster! Have to move a little awkwardly to turn on AC, but the screen moves down so I might bring it down a little if it bothers me. 9F76AE3A-F56F-4449-AB86-07E5F9422272.jpeg C442A818-F44D-4F5B-90EE-6895202A26C0.jpeg 62120420-E919-4BF7-96E2-5DEAB18C3FC1.jpeg 133105EE-16F7-46C0-BD13-DD65B193D2C5.jpeg 91528255-E996-4131-8624-17C58AA584F3.jpeg 4396D720-A1FB-440A-8E81-94E461E57CCF.jpeg

Huh. I replaced my head unit with a tablet a while back, (https://www.stangnet.com/mustang-fo...ereo-head-unit-with-an-android-tablet.858009/) but I stuck with a smaller tablet that fits within the bezel. Problem now is I can't find a decent tablet that small that isn't some strange off-brand. So that doesn't look too bad. I wonder if you'll end up hitting your knuckles on the screen under 'spirited' driving?

Single din touchscreen units are pretty hard to come by. Jensen wasn’t my first choice in brand but they’re the only one who had wireless CarPlay with a single din touchscreen. Didn’t want to run cables for wired CarPlay to keep interior clean. I have about 1.5 inch of clearance in third gear, don’t think it’ll be an issue but I’ll update once I get the seats in and drive it around.

Those don't look like stock '95 Mustang seats. The original seats in my '95 Cobra have much higher bolstering than that. Maybe it's a difference with the convertible.

They were reupholstered 3 years ago. The guy never replaced the foam however so the driver seat is a little “depressed”. That’s the main reason for the swap, my passenger seat feels great as the original foam is still plush with decent bolstering. Pic of passenger seat for reference image.jpg

Initially tried bolting the stock sliders to the seats but with the different bolt spacing, it didn’t allow for enough travel backwards for me to position the seat correctly. Picked up some Corbeau Brackets and sliders. Widened the track width on them, and bolted them up. All I need to do now is modify the handle that unlocks the sliders to accommodate for the wider track.
