First off a big thank you to all who have posted and more importantly answers questions here. Valuable info that I have used many times. This past winter I converted my 95 gt from auto to 5 sp. Put a few hundred miles on it, destroyed TO bearing. Pulled apart, replaced used clutch fork and pivot ball with new, switched out clutch and pressure plate to Ford Performance Part clutch kit. destroyed another TO bearing even quicker.. First one was basically a generic bearing that came with clutch and pressure plate. Second one was Ford Performance Part TO bearing. While cleaning everything up for reinstall I noticed what appears to be fractures in the bearing retainer flange. Retainer itself is solid, no movement. Should I replace this? I have found a pic of a new one with what appears to be similar marks. Have not pulled it off tranny to look at underside. Thanks in advance for any help.
After posting this found this on the description of new bearing retainer...
Product Note
- Due to the nature of the casting on the base of the bearing retainer, flash lines/flow lines resembling cracks may be visible on the bearing retainer. This is a normal byproduct of aluminum casting and are not cracks in the aluminum housing.
