95 GT Vert. Can I put in aftermarket cd player?

I have a 95 GT convertible. It has the mach 460 stereo system and I have a sony mp3/cd player I would like to install. Do I just buy a ford stereo harness from walmart and plug it in or is there more to it?

If you buy the adapter it's pretty much connect the wires from the radio the adapter and plug it to the factory harness and turn up the radio as loud as you wish.

Cool... so the sony 45watts per channel will be ok going into the factory amps?

Also is it the regular ford harness or is it a certain 460 harness than I need to get?

Yep, they will be fine besides the 45 watts is only peak power right so that means it probably pushes more like 22-24 watts RMS(means continuous) the factorys will be fine. I'm pretty sure they are all the same I had a adapter in my dads truck hooked up to a clarion and put it in the stang, plugged right in and played with the mach 460 I have (the truck was a 97 F 150)

I just bought a pioneer DEH 6600 I also bought

SCOSCHE FAI-3A
SCOSCHE FDK10

I cannot figure out how this is supposed to work. I dont know what im supposed to do at all. I dont know what wires are even speaker wires on my car. The power harness connects right in, but I dont know what im supposed to do with the mach 460. HELP ME PLEASEEEEEEE

No. It is not the standard ford wiring harness. You have to get one that is either for keeping the amps or bypassing the amps. There is more to it than just the standard harness.

I had to splice the wires for my sony xplod stereo and bypass the amps cuz it already has them.

I have the mustang speaker wire diagram if you want it, just pm me or email and i'll send it to you

Splicing is easy and you don't have to deal with a harness- or you could look at the diagram and tell where your harness goes.. either way take it slow and don't get stressed- it'll be really cool when it's done (sounds like i'm talking to 1105 for his turbo install)

I think the mach 460 sound system is marginal at best. I could barly hear my music doing 70 with the top down. Get yourself a nice amp and speakers and rip it all. I kept the pillar mounts for the highs in mine and replaced the stock speakers with the reference series from mb quartz It still retains the stock look, but now my highs and mids are crystal clear.

This is what I did when I installed mine. You need the inline converter or you have a chance on hurting your amps.

The install was easy. First you need to go to Best Buy install bay and get a wiring harness (About $10-15) for a MACH-460 and the inline converter ($35-50 I cant remember the price) this will allow you to turn the output power from the head unit down so it wont hurt the amps. Then go to www.flemworld.com and get the wiring diagram it is under 460. Once you get all of this stuff you will be set. To hookup the speakers there are the 1or2 (I cant remember) square connectors they are the feeds to the amps this is where you will put the inline converter. Then there is a long connector this is the power and amp turn on (don't forget this one) and stuff like that. To set the converter out put turn it all the way down and turn the stereo 3/4 up then turn the 4 knobs evenly all the way until it starts to distort.
