I ran one acouple of months ago I wasn't too proud of my kill because it was so freakin easy. I won 100 dollar bet from the guy saying he could take me. I was kinda scared because when we launch he was hanging with me but I forgot that the are AWD then after I hooked I was GONE!!! He told me he turn up the boost, bigger intercooler, aftermarket BOV, ignition system upgrade, blah, blah, blah. I wanted to brag about my victory but it was an import so I just kept it to myself. Oh well...

Here's what it boils down to. Evo's are cool. Mustangs are cooler. Price of Evo, we'll say 30k. Ur stang lets say 8k. Take the 22,000 left, and put it into mods for your mustang. Well i think we can all do the rest in our heads...

You cant compare the new cost of a car to a used car. Its cheaper cause its USED!

It would be more acceptable to compare a 04 cobra and a 04 Evo. Actually cause of the cost difference it would be more like the upcoming Evo MR (more hp, and other goodies).

They are both great cars out of the box, and extremely upgradeable. With some good mod money the Evo probably wouldnt catch the Cobra in a 1/4 mile test, but go to a road course with 2 great drivers and see how the 2 fare.

I raced one on the street one time. WE hit stop light after stoplight with no traffic out. It looked like some little 16 old kid. I beat the **** out of him like three or four times. I am guess he didn't did know how to drive seeing that my car isnt that fast.

actually you dont understand how it works....

and it depends on the car whether its a 50/50 distribution or 40/60 etc etc

evo is somewhere around a 40/60

bingo!

The Skyline GT-R's ALTESSA AWD system is pretty trick. Its a variable system that can transfer up to 90% of power to the rear wheels. So on a launch the car acts VERY RWD, and at when it senses spin from the rear tires it adds more to the front and the car just rips out of the hole...

I think the Skyline's is more advanced and completely computer contolled, whereas the Sti has a control on the console to adjust manually for launching, ect. ??

The STi has a control that can be set manually, or to auto.

the STi uses the ALTESSA system?? i was unaware of that. All i know is the Skyline is a damn computer on wheels. Between the AWD system, the 4-wheel steering system, the in dash computer(g-meter, all digital temp readings, boost, numbers etc..)its a wonder those things move like they do weighing nearly 4000lbs!

I CAN compare the two because thats what everyone else is using in comparison is a NEW Evo, and a USED Mustang.

His car was really nice, and I noticed some massive Brembos up front. It also said RallyArt on his car. Does anyone know if that is on all of them or is it like an SVT?

well I hate to break it to you but that was an EVO you were racing. If it said Rally Art then thats what it was. It's a little farther down the food chain from the evo but still a fast car. Does anyone know the numbers on it? I know it comes with more than 200hp but not on the evo's level.

The Lancer Ralliart has about 165hp and is FWD. Its an upgrade from the basic lancer. They should run mid 15s in the 1/4.

They are peons compared to the Evo in everycategory.

Hell with the mods you have I'd like to see you race a real Evo! Ever been to the track? What's your 1/4 time. That thing sounds bad azz.

Did I mention I like to go to schools and pick fights with little kids?
j/k

No, I haven't been to the track. I work 6 days a week and I also know that I'm seriously pressing my luck with the stock axles and T-5. Excuses, excuses I know. But I think you also need a valid driver's license to drive on the track. And I don't have one. It's supended.

Let me finish my project car (get my license back!) and get back out to Penn State. There's a handful of evo's, srt-4's, and s2000's out there that are about to learn that there's no replacement for displacement. I'll be posting my wars stories in the months to come.

100%. GT-R is a RWD until there is loss of traction. Pulling the AWD fuse on a R32 or R34 GT-R will make it RWD only. Nice feature if you only have 2wd dynos around.

EVO and STi are FWD based, variable AWD's. I believe they can deliver power to individual wheels but they can't transfer 100% of the power to the front (which only makes sense if it is to the rear).

That's the kind of AWD I'd like to have.

That sounds about right. There's a guy where I work that has both an Evo and an STi, and he says they drive 99% of the time like a FWD car, until they lose traction. Especially the STi. I like the driving dynamics of a RWD car myself, and so it sounds like the system in the GT-R is superior, at least in my humble opinion . Kinda like getting the best of both worlds.
